Brigit Towey

Brigit Towey, MS, LMHC is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and a Qualified Counseling Supervisor in the State of Florida. In 2000, Brigit received her Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology from Augsburg College in Minneapolis, MN. During her undergraduate years, she volunteered at a local crisis hotline, a community housing program and studied abroad in Costa Rica. In 2010, Brigit graduated, with honors, from Walden University in Minneapolis, MN with a Master’s Degree in Mental Health Counseling.

As a working mother, Brigit recognizes the time, focus, dedication and stress required to maintain a healthy work-life balance. Raising a family today requires a great deal of support and resources. Brigit utilizes a Family Centered and Trauma/Stressor Informed approach in treatment that is focused on the philosophy of the African proverb; "It takes a Village to raise a child." Brigit works with families (biological, step, foster,adoptive, kinship, etc..) to promote healing within the family setting.

Brigit has worked with families in the community since 2000. Brigit provides professional consultation and trainings in addition to public speaking engagements. Brigit’s therapeutic services include family team coaching, parenting instruction, individual therapy for children and adults, and family therapy.

Brigit is a certified educator and consultant in Trauma Informed Care. Brigit is certified in trained in Trauma - Focused Cognitive Behavior Therapy. Brigit is also a trainer and facilitator for Florida’s Adoption Competency certification.
